Surgical Orthodontics in Dubai: The Pinnacle of Smile Transformation

There are cases where achieving the perfect result requires more than just moving teeth. When the cause of disharmony lies deeper—in the size or position of the jaws themselves—surgical orthodontics comes into play. This is not just a treatment; it is a symphony of two specialists—the orthodontist and the maxillofacial surgeon—working in tandem to create perfect harmony of function and aesthetics.

When is orthognathic surgery necessary?

We resort to combined treatment in cases of significant skeletal anomalies that cannot be fully compensated for with braces alone:

  • A significant mismatch in the size or position of the upper and lower jaws.

  • Pronounced facial asymmetry.

  • An open bite that cannot be corrected orthodontically.

  • Serious problems with breathing, speech, or chewing functions.

The Treatment Process: A Synergy of Precision and Skill

Combined treatment is a clearly planned, three-stage process:

  1. Pre-Surgical Orthodontics: My task at this stage is to prepare the "foundation." Using braces, I align the teeth on each jaw so that they will fit perfectly after the surgery. This stage takes from several months to a year and a half.

  2. Orthognathic Surgery: This is performed by my partner, an experienced maxillofacial surgeon, in a hospital setting. The surgeon moves the jaws to a new, correct position that we planned together.

  3. Post-Surgical Orthodontics: After a healing period, I begin the "fine-tuning." This final stage with braces is necessary to achieve perfect contacts between the teeth and takes several months.

This is a complex but incredibly rewarding journey that leads to dramatic improvements not only in the smile but also in facial features, function, and overall quality of life.
