The first consultation with a pediatric orthodontist is one of the most important steps you as parents can take for your child's health. This is not a binding visit for the immediate installation of braces. It is a friendly introduction and a professional assessment that allows us to look into the future and ensure that the development of the maxillofacial system is on the right track.

At what age is the first consultation needed?

International orthodontic associations recommend the first check-up at the age of 6-7 years. During this period, the transition to permanent teeth begins, and I can assess key aspects:

• The relationship between the size of the jaws and teeth.

• The amount of space available for the erupting permanent teeth.

• The absence of harmful habits affecting the bite.

• Proper nasal breathing.

What happens at the first consultation?

Our main goal is to create a positive experience for the child. The entire visit, which lasts 30-45 minutes, takes place in a calm and friendly atmosphere:

1. Getting Acquainted: We get to know the little patient and establish a connection.

2. Examination: In a playful manner, I examine the teeth, bite, and assess muscle function and facial symmetry.

3. Discussion: I share my observations with you, the parents, answer all your questions, and provide recommendations.

Why is an early check-up so important?

Early diagnosis is the key to prevention. By identifying a potential problem at an early stage, we can often solve it with simple methods (like special exercises or a small plate) or simply monitor the situation. This helps to avoid complex, lengthy, and costly treatment in the future and gives your child the best start for a healthy smile.
